is there an ‘outside’ to the universe? of course not, if one pictures as ‘universe’ that which constitutes its coherence (planets, black holes, stars, etc). this kind of ‘border’ is closer to the hands of escher drawing themselves, or, as benoit mandelbrot says, like the roughness of a coast line being precisely that which takes itself to the edge. what a difference from the kind of lines now being (re-)drawn as if hard borders expressed the true ‘truth’ of territorial landscapes. interestingly, search engines and multinational corporations understand this 21st c mandelbrot picture and work off this principle tirelessly.
